Tonight, I’ve decided I’m probably a workaholic. Since summer session is done, I have a lot of time on my hands and I’ve been asked to cover people certain days for work and such and I can’t help but say yes. Why? Well, I really have nothing else to do and I definitely could use the money. This resulted in me working a little more than two weeks straight.
Got my mind on the money and my money on my mind.
At least I’m heading to SoCal in about two and a half weeks.
One of my friends just moved there.
A couple of my friends are taking a trip there.
Another one of my friends from Turkey is moving back.
And my best friends gf is heading there as we speak.
I wanna go back, too!
Summer grind, get money.
I didn’t know that the Philippines won the Little League World Series in 1992 when their team, which qualified for the tournament for the first time ever, beat Long Beach 15-4 in the championship game.
Not long after, they were then stripped of the title, which was awarded to Long Beach. In a pretty intriguing story, Al Mendoza, a journalist from the Philippines helped uncover the truth that led to the Philippines’ disqualification. Eight of the players on the team were not from Zamboanga, a violation of the rules that stripped the championship away. And later, it was discovered that some of the players were too old to play and along with their parents, assumed the identities of younger players and their parents. Here’s a fantastic article from a 1993 issue of Sports Illustrated: Field of Schemes
The story could probably make a really good movie, not so much about the team, but more the adults making the decisions. I’d imagine it would be pretty sad. Also, one of the kids’ names was Jollifer Fridge.
Leeann was just telling me about this the other night.
- Turn in this final paper for summer session (I did not like this class at all).
- Visit Krizia and Terski in Carson.
- Hydrobiking!
- Visit my parents and homies back in SD.
- Mexico?
- Payday.
- Clean/organize/rearrange my room.
I still have my paper to finish, but it’s coolio. I had a much needed and overdue dinner with my old roommates. Have fun in Brazil, Nhi! See you in December ;)
This is one of the most amazing thing’s Ive seen on Tumblr.
WOW.
is the WORST.
Read this on Yahoo! and I think it’s pretty funny. Bourdain and Deen are definitely different personalities, but I still want Bourdain’s job more than Deen’s. Juss’ sayinnnn’.
…of a lot of things, people and places.
Taking inspiration from logos, Barend Hemmes has created two of the most bad-ass bikes you have ever seen, the Charging Bull and the Jaguar.
A true labour of love, Barend admits that he had no experience in building a motorbike. You will be surprised to find out that he actually…
Who You Are, Jessie J
One of my favorite poets. I found him on YouTube a few years ago, and when I find things and people that are as inspirational as he is, I go on a search craze. I was following his blog and it was during the same time that I met one of my good friends.
Now, this guy Anis, he refers to this idea of “Heavy&Light.” He says that he used to be so heavy and that meeting his girlfriend/wife (I haven’t searched him recently) reminded him of how it felt to be light again. And I think when he was heavy is when I felt light. My friend hella reminds me of Anis and his poems. There’s one particular poem, I can’t find it right now, where he talks about wanting to drive forever with his dead grandpa, which is something that my friend did a lot with his uncle before he passed away. The story itself was really heavy, but I think we both felt really light as he was telling me about it. I only talk to him once and a while now, but it still feels the same when we do talk. A lot more drunk dials, that’s for sure, but I think it’s because we’re always looking for the weight of the alcohol to just come off those nights. I just wonder…
I remember when you introduced me to this guy. Definitely one of my favorites :).
